Weight Watchers?

As I was at the gym today, working the elliptical machine, watching TV, ohhhh 6? It was Good Day Houston. Apparently Houston's verions of Good Morning America. They had a woman there from Weight Watchers.
While I will say I dont discredit WW for helping men and women with loosing weight it was the mentality that got me. People needing to shed pounds are in it because they have made poor food choices, no portion control, etc.
It killed me to see that WW made chicken tenders, pushing Skinny Cow ice cream. I know that it is SO very hard to kick habit. They die hard. BUT I think that WW should be teaching people more about healthy and fresh, especially on television shows, than pushing their product.

I would say definately do your food research. If you are wanting to make a change then do it! You can!! I am. I have. Its SO very hard. I had a Diet Coke habit that was gross. I slowly gave it up and have been soda free for 3 years! It was almost like smoking.

Get your fresh foods in. Dont eat food with a shelf life, get up and move your hiney. Even simple walking can help you!!

You can do it! Please leave any comments/questions and I will get them addressed.

Leaving you with this, makes me shake my head. What's in your pantry?

Doing dinner: Turkey Meatballs

So we made dinner tonight, using ground turkey, quinoa, and roasted veggies. We are a garlic loving family and there was tons of it in there.
Recipe:

Meatballs
-Ground turkey
-onions
-garlic
-quinoa flour

Mix all these ingredients together until the meatballs stay together. Roll into balls and place on a roasting pan. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes.
Perfection!

Quinoa as followed on directions. Basically one cup quinoa per 2 cups of liquid. I make more to use through the week.

Roasted veggies. We use a stainless steel pan with olive oil, red onion and and garlic. Roast and add veggies.
Tonight we use mushrooms, asparagus, broccoli, artichokes, and bell pepper medley (Thank you Trader Joes!).
Pretty much roast til you like your veggies to hold up. We like them with a bit more crunch to them, but you can also sautee them a bit longer and have them softer. It would be good if you were making it for little ones, or older individuals who might have trouble with chewing harder veggies.

It was amazing!! Light, but filling. Good if you are following a gluten free or Paleo diet! :)

Hope you guys are having a fun and amazing weekend!!

Happy 2013. Lots of fun things.

I want to share a few fun things, but I am going to split them in different posts.

Our family made so many healthy changes in 2012. We pretty much did a 180 with our eating. We went away from boxed and canned foods. We prepare our foods, and when we dont we have about 5 places that are local that care about their customers as much as we care about our family.

We started drinking kombucha. Its my addiction, my pickup line almost. I share the health affects of it almost daily.
We collect our own eggs, and help support our local farm.
We drink raw milk. Well the girls do, milk and me still dont do too well.

At the end of the year I started doing research on paleo diets. I am in love with it, and cant wait to learn and share more this year.

This year I will:
-exercise more. I work for myself and pour myself into my work. I wanna get out and enjoy the world!
-become even more less dependent on store products. My husband and I love to learn to make new items and have started to stock our pantry accordingly.
-share healthy news with family and friends. I do this, and want to share more.
-look into becoming a ceretified nutritionist.
-learn more about essential oils. I love love love do Terra oils and we are all becoming addicted to their wonderful effects on the body!

I cant wait to write more here.
Lets go for a healthy 2013.
